The most recent development for Bollywood Strings/SOI is the growing relationship between us and the famous Flamenco guitarist, Pepe Habichuela and his team. Pepe first worked with us during our Barbican concert last and has since commissioned two strings arrangements which was released
in the summer of 2002.
This team has had 5 successful shows all over Europe and our main target next year is two share this fantastic show with the UK music scene. Flamenco music and Indian music share common roots and this can be seen in the vibrating sounds these musicians produce and the atmosphere it creates.
Especially beautiful to watch is the relationship between Chandru and Pepe, fierce yet humble musical exchanges leave the audience mesmerised. Both musicians have nothing but
praise for each other.
“Chandru, smiling, plays as if he were talking straight to Pepe. His music is fluid and precise.”

Our regular features in a
concert are the sitar, tabla (North Indian percussion), mridangam (South Indian percussion) and of course, the violin. On the flamenco end, we have Pepe and his second guitarist, 2 singer come clappers and 1 kahoun player. Depending on the scale of the programme, we may add musicians.
However, especially for our 2004 programmes, we are offering a special feature to add colour and vibrance to the already dynamic set. We will be featuring a conversation not only in music but also in dance, where we will have Indian dancers exchanging styles with Flamenco dancers. We are very excited about this rather new combination of music and steps.
For 2004, we will be able to offer the already existing set featuring instruments and singing or we can add the flavour of dance to your event. The musicians involved are of exceptionally high standard and we guarantee excellence. A set could will begin at £1500 going up to £4000 depending on the requirements of the set.
